Sandra Solis

Sandra Solis was born in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was three years old.  She lived in Boyle Heights for about 13 years then moved with her family to Pico Rivera.  She now resides in Long Beach.

Ms. Solis became a U.S. Citizen in August 1985, and after graduating from high school she attended Rio Hondo College where she received an Associate of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies (1990).  She later transferred to California State University Dominguez Hills where she received both her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Labor Studies (1998), and her Masters Degree in Public Administration (2000).

Ms. Solis started her county career on March 29, 1985, at the Department of Public Social Services as an Intermediate Typist Clerk.  After a month and a half of working in the Intake Unit at the Belvedere Field Office, she was transferred to the Headquarters Offices working under Jake Aguilar.  In 1989, she transferred to the District Attorney’s Office as a secretary and in 1992, she was promoted to Paralegal in the Compton Courthouse.   In 1995, she transferred to the Sheriff’s Department and she is now an Administrative Services Manager III in the Employee Relations Unit.

Ms. Solis has been a part of the Los Angeles County Chicano Employees Association (LACCEA) since 2000, and on their Board of Directors for the past five years. Besides serving on the Board of Directors of LACCEA, she also serves on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles County Hispanic Managers Association (LACHMA).
