Monica Gastelum - 1st Vice President

Monica Gastelum was a Board Member of LACCEA from 2003 to 2005. Upon finishing her term she went on to receive her Bachelors Degree in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University and is now ready to serve on LACCEA’s Board once again.

Monica comes to us via our sister organization MACA. Monica was the scholarship recipient for MACA in 2003 and became interested in LACCEA shortly after.

Monica is a current Probation Department employee with over 10 years in the department. She started as an Intermediate Typist Clerk and is now a Detention Services Officer for the Detention Services Bureau.

Not only does she find the time to help LACCEA, she is also involved in the community. She is currently involved with her children’s school PTA, and Autism Speaks Now program in order to better understand the disorder her son faces on a daily basis.

During her term as Secretary for LACCEA, she volunteered her time on numerous activities. One of them was our 2005 toy drive. She was recognized by Fabian Nuñez speaker of the California Assembly and Assemblyman Rudy Bermúdez at our 2004 Instillation of Officer’s dinner.  She has also received commendations from Antonio Villaraigosa, State Assembly, State Senate, and Congressional for her commitment and involvement in the Latino community.

Monica really enjoys her career, and free time. She has more time to spend with her two children Gabriel and Amber.
