Marcelino Sandoval
Board Member

Marcelino Sandoval was born in Artesia, California where he lived with his parents and 3 brothers.  His family moved to Norwalk where he attended Nottingham Elementary School and graduated from Servite High School.  During his high school years he participated in football and baseball.  He is currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix where he is majoring in Criminal Justice.

In 1994, his brother Lorenzo encouraged him to apply with the Los Angeles County Probation Department.  Marcelino started his career with the County at Camp Challenger and went on to Barry J Nordoff Juvenile Hall in Sylmar and is now at Central in Los Angeles.

During his 15 years with the County Mr. Marcelino Sandoval has been actively involved with Local 685 as Vice President for 6 years and is now a special representative for the union.  His ability to work well with others and the willingness to fight for their rights gave him the opportunity to represent numerous fellow employees.

Along with being involved in the union he has taken an active role in LACCEA as a Board Member.  He has been a Board Member for 7 years. Marcelino was elected to LACCEA's Board of Directors in 2002.  Marcelino joined the organization so he could be a part of LACCEA’s efforts to become a true leader in Latino affirmative action advocacy in Los Angeles County, fighting for equal employment opportunities, with all being treated fairly, with respect and having an opportunity to have representation for its members in areas involving county policy, promotions, discipline and administrative proceedings.  Marcelino is a front runner in helping LACCEA achieve its goals.

Marcelino also gives his time to volunteer in the communities we serve.  Some of his efforts have been to assist in food and toy drives for underprivileged families as well as take clothing and food to an orphanage in Mexico.

His involvement with LACCEA has been recognized by assemblyman Rudy Bermudez and Fabian Nunez Speaker of the California Assembly just to name a few of his commendations.

Marcelino being a true entrepreneur has developed a business breeding and selling birds to vendors and pet stores.  His efforts to build his business has to be commended since to achieve his goal he needs to take a newly hatched bird and hand feed it until it is able to feed itself.  We should call him the “Real Bird Man”.

When he finds spare time he enjoys watching football and baseball and is a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, LA Dodgers and UCLA.

He stated that “the best times are when he is with his son, Christopher, fishing and just hanging together”.
